Michael G. Swansburg, Jr., is a founding member of Swansburg & Smith, PLLC. Licensed in Kentucky, his practice focuses on representing employers in litigation and advising business clients.
Mr. Swansburg previously served as deputy secretary and general counsel for the Kentucky Labor Cabinet, where he oversaw the Cabinet’s enforcement of Kentucky’s occupational safety and health, wage and hour, and worker’s compensation laws. Prior to serving the Commonwealth, Mr. Swansburg worked at a large regional law firm for more than five years, representing businesses and state agencies in a variety of legal disputes, and defending employers, both public and private, in litigation matters filed in federal and state courts in Kentucky and Indiana.
Mr. Swansburg graduated cum laude from the University of Louisville’s Brandeis School of Law, where he was the Editor in Chief of the school’s flagship publication, the University of Louisville Law Review. He graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science.
